![]() Drive around without the AC and watch the gauge. If you drive with the AC on all the time it may mask an overheating problem because the cooling fans run all the time. ![]() Have a compression and leak down test done after that if the rad and cap check out ok. This could be as simple as a bad rad cap and as complicated as a cracked head or blown head gasket. Low coolant level can cause the check engine light to turn on for a few reasons: First, if there’s not enough coolant in the system, it can cause the engine to overheat or run at a higher temperature than it should. When things cool down the coolent is returned back to the rad from the overflow tank and all looks normal. This lowers the coolant level in the rad and triggers the light. I think your system may be building up excessive pressure and filling the overflow tank when warmed up. Let's go forward from there as you said it doesn't come on right away. It can either be a box often with wavy lines under it to indicate liquid, a thermometer, or a message low coolant. The way the light shows depends on the vehicle you are using. The book says after you fill the rad it may still come on and you have to turn the ing sw to off then start the car to reset it. When you start your car’s engine, the warning light will illuminate on the dashboard for about two seconds and then go out. If the light comes on when you first turn the key on it should be working ok. The experience with the new dealer has been much better though.I have a '96 and the owners manual (p2-82) has a short bit on that warning light. Paying for a premium brand doesn't necessarily mean better service. ![]() Lack of service with the 1st dealer is something I'd unfortunately gotten used to. ![]() On the plus side during the service they performed a software update, I now have apple car play I asked about it back in Jan with a different dealer, the response being did I pay for it? it wasn't an option when I ordered my car. Personally, I'd have replaced the relevant parts which I'll push for if it happens again. So I've agreed to take it home and bring it back first week in Dec for them to recheck. When the engine is running, the sensor continuously measures the coolant level. The sensor is typically located in the coolant reservoir, radiator, or engine block. They kept the car 2 days trying to reproduce which included some motorway driving to bring it up to temperature but still nothing. The low coolant level warning light uses a sensor in the cooling system to monitor the coolant level. Jaguar did a pressure test which failed, they then topped up the coolant correctly and apparently the pressure test passed. I don't drive it very often at the moment and waited for its 1st service this week. A low coolant level can be due to a leak in the system, which should be addressed immediately. The coolant or antifreeze is responsible for maintaining the engine's temperature and preventing it from overheating. Took it for a flush, new coolant in a shop. ![]() Checked, there was a thin layer of ice in the top of my overflow. I've been topping it up if I notice it low, with water, if the weather temperature started dropping I'd have sourced the correct coolant. When the coolant warning light is on, one of the most common causes is a low coolant level. Got super cold a few weeks ago, Low Coolant Light popped up. When the coolant warning light is on, one of the most common causes is a low coolant level. I also had the coolant pump change because of the loud fan issue back in December/Jan, not convinced it fully fixed the issue I do sometimes hear a slightly louder noise from the fan randomly but only a fraction of what it was, if I didn't have the prior issue I wouldn't notice it.Īfter about 8 months and a long (4 hours) motorway journey the coolant low light came on, looked at the coolant level under the bonnet and it was low, dropped into the nearest Jaguar garage who couldn't find a leak and topped it up.Ĥ weeks later on a similar journey light came on again, it was low, I used water this time since Jaguar apparently have not released the coolant type or Halfords didn't have it on record. I've had my car 1 year this month HSE R-Dynamic P250, received in Oct 2018. ![]()
